Train with Commedia Maestro Antonio Fava
Reserve your space now at stolenchair.org/fava.html!!!

It is Stolen Chair's great pleasure to announce that Antonio Fava, one of the greatest living masters of Commedia dell'Arte, will be returning to New York in just a few short weeks to offer two masterclasses to theatre professionals.

Maestro Fava will introduce participants to the traditional art-form of Commedia dell'Arte and teach: use and meaning of the mask, fixed typologies and characters including Old People, Lovers, Zanni, and Captains, and the functions, gestures and behaviors of each. As a Grand Finale for the workshop, all students will participate in a presentation of an improvised Commedia scenario.

This year, Maestro Fava will be offering classes for two experience levels so that those who have received prior training in the art-form can develop their skills even further.

Reserve your space today at www.stolenchair.org/fava.html!!!!

Kill Me slays them!!!
100% sold-out run and critical acclaim (and 3 podcasts!!!)

If you missed the sold-out month-long run of Kill Me Like You Mean It, don't despair! There are still plenty of ways to read about, hear about, and yes, even see the show that was called an "intriguing," "clever," and "brilliant" "must see" "stroke of genius."

All of the press can be read at http://stolenchair.org/killme/press.html, where you can also listen to our newest podcast, conducted by Clute and Edwards of noircast.net.

Stills from the production will be posted later this week, and DVDs will be available soon.

Stolen Chair's 2nd Annual Un-Fundraiser Party
Save the date: February 23rd, 8pm, Location TBA

No cover. No "suggested donation." No drink minimum. For one night only, Stolen Chair will not be asking for your hard-earned cash! We just want to party and meet the wonderful people (that's you!) who helped make Kill Me Like You Mean It so successful.

There will be Stolen Chair related drink specials, merchandise galore, Stolen Chair's "Greatest Hits" playing on the bar's television, the first public announcement of our next collective creation, and a raffle in which you can win an unforgettable night with the Chair of your choice (okay, not really, but you can win lots of other Stolen Chair goodies!).

More details will be sent in the next newsletter...

"I hate my work. I would rather die than stop doing it."
Company Member and Director of Education Alexia Vernon "talks back" to Backstage.

"When I came to New York, I was determined to avoid the stereotypical actor's life of cattle-call auditions, monthly agent mailings, and intermittent work as a waiter or office temp. I wanted to make theatre with a like-minded group of artists..."

Read the full editorial in this week's Backstage or read it online here.

"As long as you're turned on and looking at the world as your canvas, it doesn't really matter what you're painting...yet."

Leaving no time for the inevitable post-partum depression which follows any Stolen Chair show, we've already begun hunting for our next idee fixe. Follow the entire development process of our newest collective creation on the blog.
